The Beautiful Katy and Canon 135L

That beautiful lady is my wife, Katy. She graciously came out with me for a quick photo shoot, to satisfy an itch I had to take some pictures on a beautiful sunny evening.

The photo was taken with my Canon 135L f/2. I have owned this lens for nearly a year, but for some reason I haven’t given it much use. Too often I default back to the 70-200L f/2.8, which is an amazing lens in itself. I’m beginning to practice more with prime (or fixed focal length) lenses. Prime lenses tend to be sharper and I like that it forces me to move around more to frame the shot – instead of zooming in and out. As you may have noticed in the photo above, the 135L creates an incredible bokeh (blurred background) – better than the 70-200.

This photo was shot wide open at f/2 with a 28″ softbox at camera right.
